Doomben horse racing tips & form
—
Race 1. (14:03) Souths Sports Club BM68 (1350m)
#3 – Boom Shot
Boom Shot was too good for them on debut at Doomben, and we’re happy to stick with the three-year-old.
The son of Spirit of Boom paid $13 on that occasion, but being from the Tony Gollan stable, punters should expect anything close to that.
Barrier two is ideal and he should go well.
Race 2. (14:38) Stradbroke Season Sale BM65 (1050m)
#4 – Island Magic
Island Magic owns three wins and seven placings from 12 starts, so she’s a consistent and quality type.
The four-year-old mare by Hinchinbrook has yet to win from two attempts at Doomben, but she owns two placings.
Getting 3kg off her back could be enough to win.
Race 3. (15:13) Sky Racing C3 Handicap (1640m)
#2 – Moveitmoveit
Moveitmoveit is gunning for three consecutive wins after scoring his last two at Sunshine Coast.
The four-year-old son of Maurice owns three wins from five starts, and despite having never raced at Doomben, he shouldn’t mind the track.
It’s worth looking for any betting moves on race day.
Race 4. (15:48) Cascade BM65 (1640m)
#8 – Fearless Knight
Fearless Knight turned his form around when breaking maiden grades fresh up at Sunshine Coast.
The Kacy Fogden-trained three-year-old won by 2.3 lengths, so he had something in hand, and rising in distance shouldn’t be too worrisome.
We expect each-way odds on race day.
Race 5. (16:23) XXXX Dry Maiden (1110m)
#12 – Duly Elected
Duly Elected did well to run third against a big field on debut at Sunshine Coast, so she’s worth sticking with.
The daughter of I Am Invincible capped off a trial win with the placing and carrying 54.5kg for this run should help.
It’s not an easy field, but she should be right around the mark.
Race 6. (16:58) Family Raceday 15 April Maiden (1350m)
#10 – Akermative
Akermative hasn’t been too far away from the mark so far, including a second placing on debut at Gold Coast.
The three-year-old filly by Kermadec might need to lift for this run based on her recent effort, but she could go under the radar.
Look for a betting push and expect juicy odds.
Race 7. (17:33) Ladbroke It C5 Handicap (1350m)
#9 – Moktaffy
Moktaffy has run well fresh up in the past and he could hit the ground nicely on Wednesday.
The five-year-old son of Lope de Vega comes from the Chris Waller stable, so he should be ready to fire.
Barrier four with Damien Thornton in the saddle is a bonus.
Race 8. (18:10) Racecourse Village C2 Handicap (1200m)
#2 – Noble Mission
Noble Mission is a model of consistency with two wins and five placings from nine starts.
The Fletcher-trained gelding comes off a third placing at Coffs Harbour, so a repeat of that would be good enough.
Sam Collett rides and punters should get value odds.
