AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn men’s tennis signed national letters of intent with Alex Frusina and Joseph Phillips, Auburn head coach Bobby Reynolds announced on Tuesday.
“I am excited to announce the signing of Joey Phillips and Alex Frusina,” said Reynolds. “Both of these guys were atop our recruiting lists because of who they are as people more than their tennis ability.  They fit the Auburn mold of great integrity, work ethic and determination.”
Frusina, who is a native of Conroe, Texas, is the sixth ranked recruit in the United States according to Tennis Recruiting Network and is ranked 20th in the ITF junior rankings. Frusina reached the singles quarterfinal round of the Junior Boys US Open earlier this year. The blue-chip recruit also claims four ITF doubles titles, including one at the J300 College Park in August.
“Alex is the No. 6 recruit in the US and has a career high world ranking of 17,” said Coach Reynolds. “Alex has shown the ability to win at every level, and I am excited for his arrival to Auburn and the immediate impact he will bring to our great team.”
Phillips is ranked as the 12th recruit in the nation by Tennis Recruiting Network and is also a blue-chip recruit. The Alpharetta, Georgia native holds an ITF junior ranking of 108.
“Joey comes to us for Atlanta, Georgia,” continued Reynolds. “He has an aggressive game style with a huge lefty serve and forehand.  His best tennis is still in front of him, and I am confident in our coaching staff to help him reach his highest goals.”
Frusina and Phillips will arrive on the Plains for the 2024-25 season.
