Odds for first quarterback drafted in 2023 NFL Draft (Oddsmakers believe C.J. Stroud going No. 1 to Panthers)

Must read

The NFL Draft cycle is picking up with pro days beginning across the country.

This week, several highly ranked quarterback prospects for the 2023 NFL Draft will have their pro days, which should lead to more chatter around which teams are interested in drafting them ahead of first round on april 27.

C.J. Stroud, the odds on favorite to be the first quarterback taken and selected No. 1 by the Carolina Panthers, has his pro day in Columbus at Ohio State on Wednesday. Meanwhile, former Heisman Trophy winner, Alabama’s Bryce Young will have his showcase on Thursday and Kentucky’s Will Levis will throw on Friday.

Anthony Richardson, the rising quarterback prospect after wowing at the NFL Draft Combine last month, will have his pro day in the next few weeks, but he has been rumored to go No. 1 as well, indicated in the latest odds.

2023 first quarterback drafted odds

C.J. Stroud favored to be first quarterback drafted

Young had been the favorite since the betting market opened on who the first quarterback would be selected, but once the Panthers moved up from No. 9 to No. 1, all the momentum went towards Stroud, who many in the league circled was who the Panthers intend to select.

However, the upside of Richardson remains tantalizing and his odds have stayed relatively short while someone like Levis has fallen all the way back to 40-1. Young, who is still the second choice in this market at +225, hasn’t been connected as much to the Panthers as someone like Stroud.

Here is newly hired Josh McCown discussing Stroud a few months back, likely part of the reason the Ohio State signal caller has steamed to be the odds on favorite.

The next few weeks will be telling how the top of the NFL Draft will go, but currently Stroud is the QB prospect likely to be taken first.
